Private driver or bus to tourist destinations
Hi, there are a few different places I want to visit in Cambodia. But they're all quite spread out.
Could anybody give me some advice about the best way to travel to these? Either a private driver making a round trip, or via public buses or tour trips.
The locations are
1. Phnom Penh
2. Skun
3. Kampong Cham
4. Siem Reap
5. Back to Phnom Penh
I was hoping to get all of this done in under five days.
Thank you!

You can go to these places by public buses.
You would not get a tour going to those exact places.
You could get a private driver, but I dont know where. It would cost more.
Why the 5 days? It would be ideal to have a reasonable amount of time at each place.

if you want it doing in 5 days you are better off striking up a deal with a private driver, would be more expensive than busses, but you will save a lot of time, depends on your budget really

If time is an issue, then you should be looking at a private driver/hire. Lyna-car-rental for instance. The public buses can be a bit erratic and result in wasting a heap of your precious time- we left Phnom Penh 3 hours late on one of the smaller bus services because the driver went home with the bus. Time is a bit of an abstract and random concept in Cambodia.
5 days. I plan journeys based on averaging 50-60km/h if I’m driving personally. A lot of valuable time will be lost just getting about.
Siem/Angkor could easily take up half your allotted time at least, depending up whether you want a whistle stop tour or actually really looking at the sites/sights.

Yes Monday to Friday it is. Just for a whistle stop tour at each place, take some pictures etc etc.
Where would be the best place to get a private driver and how much would there fee be? The distance for the round trip would be between 750km and 1000km

You could try where the public taxis hang out or ask in a tour shop. they will know people who can. Given the chinese splashing cash aroud like it was free I would expect between $50-$100 a day + fuel, accomodation and beer if you want to stick with the same guy.How much you pay determines the quaity of the car. If you are going on what they consider bad roads the price goes upRandolphgb wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 7:36 pm Yes Monday to Friday it is. If you have not enjoyed the thrill of public buses in Cambodia already I would forget it. 5 days you are gonna hate, if you survive, and once you start moving outside major centres taxis can be hard to find
