That's a fine, albeit incomplete, rant - you do know that Apple makes iPhones in China under abusive conditions, right?

Foxconn. who are now trying to move production to get round trump. that one has had the most publicity but several more companies were named and shamed in the last year. These are componenet. the phones themselves may well be asembeld in different places. Any way you cut it apple makes enough money to share some of it with american workers making american phones in america, and i am not American but there is something wrong in the concept

I think the increase in jacked up cars is down tot he well known principle of sending old fashined crap that is no longer trensy to cambodia.
When China incresed pollution tax chines changed fuels and we got a lot of prosche, rolls and bentley. These jacked trucks are not really practical. they are built for show, cost a fortune to maintain and guzzle fuel, but even people with small penises get noticed driving them ....

I still don't get how having a 20 year old Landcruiser/ Pajero or whatever and souping up the suspension/ putting a roll-cage, bull bars and a winch in equates with anything to do with penises.
Have you got something against utilitarian vehicles? I find the ostentatious behavior of locals interesting, because in my culture we tend to hide our fortunes rather than display them.
However, I don't see a jacked-up 1997 Landcruiser as being particularly flashy. It could be useful in the countryside, that's all.

I have nothing against utes if they are utes. A utility vehicle has to be useful. These jacked up crossbreeds are not necessarily that good off road. Adding a few inches of ground clearance and fat tyres does not turn an old pajero into an off roader.It may turn it into a liability on the road by increasing the height of the centre of balance, dmaging braking and being too soft for proper roadholding on tarmac. Most SUV's were never designed for real rough going, mainlyy for recreational driving on decent fire trails and the like. Some of the more caapable off roaders do not necessarily benefit from these modification in a practical sense. It can upset the handling on or off road. if it not carefully planned and executed. Too much height and ground clearance and width can be a real liability on slippery slopes
