Cambodia is the Cheapest place to retire...

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Good coffe and cambodia are like oil and water sadly. I have yet to find a decent coffee here and for the record satrbucks and amazon etc are nowhere near as good as they should be for the ridiculous price they charge
Go to Golden Home on st 172 and have their hot coffee with milk. It's vietnam style where it drips from the little metal filter (there is a lot of Vietnam influence in cambo). It's so good, you will not go ANYWHERE ELSE if you can help it. It's not right for every type of coffee drink like ice coffee, but for hot coffee it's the best.

For fairly good Euro style espresso go to the that relatively new place north a few blocks on the street where all the pharmacies are (136?). It's name is something like Lavandra....
Or go south one block to the bookstore coffeeshop.
A lot of them are using Mondulkiri coffee from cambo, or Dao from Lao, or maybe some even Doy Chaang from Thailand.
The stuff you see in the real cambo places along the street is what you see roasted on the street in coverted (industrial?) cans. Tastes like shit unless you load it up with sugar. Cambo style is after you finish it, you fill up your glass with that weak Chinese tea they always give you free on every table.
AND you can get good espresso from a little place on st 19 at the corner of 172 called the "Espresso Cart" or something like that. Owned by a very nice lady (at least to me).

Vietnam coffee can be very good and is underrated, but i do miss a good latte caramel. The best place i have found is a donut shop on mao just west of the junction with 119, which is a bit of a way to go :-(

I lack patience when using that Vietnamese filter rig. Good results, but it always seems like. I'm going to celebrate my next birthday before the cup is full.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Strongly disagree - Best coffee I've had in PP at Eric Keyser, flat white, hard to stop at one.

Brown also make an acceptable flat white too.

Edit:
Yes, there are lots of places purveying crap coffee, like Metro.

Next thing somebody will compare bangkok to anlong veng.
How long are you in the region and stayed outside EK? Ubon is an old town in Isaan with nice parks, walks along the river and a urban population that compares very well with PP. Supermarkets one can only dream of in PP and hospitals that deserve the name.

Since you dont care nor know anything about it, why post in the first place? The contribution on SIsaket and Ubon was informative, detailed and factual. Nothing you have to offer. Next time, keep your d... inside your pants. Nobody cares.

Qualifier - I do not expect to pay $3.50 for a coffee in cambodia. In europs a decent coffee is usually under $3 unless you go to a posh restaurant in capital cities or tourist clip joints, and wages there are 3 times higher than in cambodia

Last time I was in PP, March last year, it was $2.50 for a flat white at Eric Keyser. Brown used to be $2.10 last I went there.

If prices are dearer than that then inflation is out of control. To be fair, you could pay the same amount for that bloody awful Boncafe stuff all over town. I found EK to be the best by a country mile, and have no problem paying $2.50.

But rents in Phnom Penh are above London level in some parts, and that's before Brexit level.
