Are mini mart clerks regularly screwing me out of 100-200 riel in change?

I didn't get a receipt this time. My recollection is the girl handed me a receipt the first time but it just said two bottles of water = $1.20.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of livin' the life in KOW.. And all that decadent material...it's disgusting isn't it?Cam Nivag wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:04 pm One thing I hate about this particular minimart is that the counter space is totally covered with viagra and condoms and cheap cigars, so instead of sliding your items across the counter like anywhere else, you have to lift the items up, and then place them down on the other side of that wall of crap.
And why don't they have quality Cuban cigars and Levitra?
Dude, I hope you're not turning into righteous MGTOW along the way.

I wondered if the cigars are a sexual item, like the condoms and Viagra
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

The mini-marts fuck me up too because they are not 1000r=.25cents. Then two currencies, its too much for anyone to do in their head; paying with one and getting change in another.
But seriousy bro 100r? those bills are annoying, I try to give them away as fast as I get them. Unbelievable we are having this conversation.
I don't buy water at minimarts, mom and pop shops are a better deal and give 4000/1 without any argument.

You think that instead of repeatedly arguing with these mini mart people over them trying to charge me $1.25 for $1.20 worth of water, I should just go to the mom and pop shop across the street next to Garage and buy two large bottles of water for $1?RickyBobby wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:22 pm The mini-marts fuck me up too because they are not 1000r=.25cents. If you mean that the water might be questionable, you need to be selective, I agree. I tend to look for a brand and have places I go for water. The thing is I don't get sick, so it must be ok. If in doubt, the .50 cent cans of beer will help you along.Cam Nivag wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:27 pmYou think that instead of repeatedly arguing with these mini mart people over them trying to charge me $1.25 for $1.20 worth of water, I should just go to the mom and pop shop across the street next to Garage and buy two large bottles of water for $1?RickyBobby wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:22 pm The mini-marts fuck me up too because they are not 1000r=.25cents. Not just in a country with two currencies, in Vietnam too one never gets the small change. Must add up as a nice little profit margin, that is why a lot of the prices are something like VND 9,800; I haven't seen a 200 Dong note in years.

you should have paid with $1 and demanded 100 riel change.aussieguy100 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:38 pm Usually they offer you a receipt, on which the correct change will be noted. Good evidence to request your missing 100 riel.
Or you can request a receipt as the POS machine keeps a record of all recent transactions.
One local minimart near me went that extra mile to try to get their 100 riel.
The Phnom Penh Post has a price printed on it of 4,000 riel. I offered them 4,000 riel rather than a $1 note and they demanded an extra 100 riel. I pointed out that the actual newspaper price is shown as 4,000 riel.
They claimed that the price is $1 and their exchange rate is $1=4,100 riel therefore I owe them 100 riel. It took some minutes of negotiation with the supervisor before they conceded that I could have my 4,000 riel newspaper for 4,000 riel!

Yeah these minimarts....
I once got a basket of cans of Cambodia out of a fridge with no prices on. Put them down on the till and handed the girl $10. She rang them up and then I realised they were 75c each! I said no thanks, I've changed my mind. Just give me my $10 back (there was a mom and pop store next door).
She said 'cannot'. What ensued was a Mexican stand off of pure pettiness that lasted about 30 minutes. She called her boss twice, who agreed this was a done deal. Time slowed to a glacial drip. I refused the goods, the change, or to leave, without my money.
Eventually on the 3rd phone call the boss said to give me my money back as I was 'probably poor'.
I left with my 10 dollars, a somewhat hollow victory, and a renewed hatred for automated tills and undertrained staff.
I recently noticed they've sublet half their store to some poor sucker trying to sell some sugar cane from some artificial grass with a table and chair on it.
Biz-nih' is biz-nih' I guess.
