I liked both sites but have recently stopped visiting K440.com not because it's too G rated now but because of the lack of content.

I've stopped posting on k440 because I am banned but I am banned for creating a stink because they wouldn't delete my user account. I wanted that deleted as their new (lack of) privacy policy is quite disturbing.

We must also recognise we (CEO) are through our actions, haemorrhaging ,members the other way. Not in the same numbers but a compassionate and concerned, forward thinking forum, should be looking as to why and working to stem that flow now, not when it turns in to a K440 style torrent.

This thread has cleared one thing up for me: I had never really understood the expression "butt hurt" before. Think I do now and there's some seriously raw sphincter about.

No. It's everyone's forum. That should be blatantly obvious by now. There is no way you actually think we do this for money, LoL.

If we didn't love running CEO, surely there's better ways to make money online/offline!

I seriously doubt anyone ever said, "Hmmmm. How can I make money? I know, I'll build a discussion forum for expats from the ground up."

Surely starting an online discussion forum would fall under "hobbies."

When you are here, you are a member, so part of the collective 'WE' and when you are there, you are part of their collective 'WE' as I a myself. It is not about THEM and US at all, but when here we should play our part to build this forum, we should contribute something or some things that are positive. If we just come here to take, are we not just a parasite ?

You give interesting input to CEO, through your posts, therefore you contribute something positive.

But for us to enjoy the forum, takes work and expense behind the scenes, for this we have OD and GEN, they finance this through advertising - Excellent, what is the alternative ? A membership fee?

Noting at all wrong with this or with them taking any surplus, good on them , they invested their time and money, they should reap any rewards.

Let us not forget though, it is the members who bring life to a forum, without members, you just have an empty shell. Both OD and GEN make sure your opinions are listened too and if, at all possible acted on.

Don't ask what your forum can do for you, but what you can do for your forum!
