68 Kandal Factory Workers Faint at the Sight of Blood
Kandal, Cambodia News: On January 30, 2019, the Angsnoul inspector reported that 68 factory ladies collapsed at QMI factory in Angsnoul district, Kandal. There are a total of 4,200 people working in the factory and 4,030 of them are women.
The report said that the fainting happened when one of the factory workers, named Tean Svet, no.25183, cut her finger with the machine to sew on buttons, and her neighbors fainted when they saw the blood. The panic then spread among the other women, and a number of them collapsed. The victims were sent to hospital for treatment.

I'd love to study the psychology of episodes like this.
I've never heard of mass hysteria of this sort before coming here.
The jaded fool in me has suspicions. Khmer women are generally pretty damn savvy and know how to take full advantage of circumstances.
So, I'm leaning toward most of them wanting a paid, medical leave.
68?!? That's an awful lot of people. It would be easier to swallow if it were 3 to 5.
How could that many girls even crowd around to see any blood? Those sweat shops are cramped.
This one clearly looks traumatized. She's probably thinking, "Would it look suspicious if I pulled out my phone and started playing Candy Crush?"

They probably wanted to take hospital selfies. They are all the rage now.

Has Ellise also a job in that factory?

There was a mass hysteria episode at Melbourne Airport a few years ago. A suggestion of a gas leak caused hundreds to keel over as I remember. In fact there was nothing.
And the recent drone episode in the UK. Were there any drones?

It's definitely more common here though. I reckon it's due to general lack of education, zero exposure to any type of first aid training and the general stuffiness/heat (I assume) of the work environment.
