3 Chinese Men Attack PassApp Tuk Tuk Driver in Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On January 22, 2019, at 11:20 pm, a PassApp tuk-tuk driver was attacked by 3 Chinese men on street 199/310, Sangkat Svay Prey, Khan Chamkarmorn, Phnom Penh.
According to the tuktuk driver, he had agreed to transport 3 Chinese men from Prey Tea market to Naga World for 5$. When they arrived near the Independence Monument, the Chinese men wanted to change direction, and they became violent and attacked him. He said that fortunately some passersby saw what was happening and came to his aid. Two of the Chinese passengers ran away, and one was detained by locals who called the police.
According to the Chinese man, he and his friends wanted to go from Prey Tea market to the embassy, but the driver drove in the wrong direction. They thought the driver was taking them somewhere dangerous, so they attacked the driver in order to stop the tuk tuk.
When police arrived on the scene there was much confusion, but they stopped the argument and questioned the witnesses. The Chinese man was unhappy with the outcome and said that he wanted to file a complaint with the Chinese Embassy.

Is the Chinese embassy open at 11.20pm?
But they were right about this much...the driver was taking them somewhere dangerous..Nagaworld is known to be ruinous to your financial health..

Hmm. Something not quite right about the two stories. With the passapp map, language communication should not be a problem, so why the confusion about the destination ?
Was it all a misunderstanding and a vast overreaction by the Chinese passengers, or was the driver taking them down a side alley to get mugged ?

Yeah, I agree it all sounds a bit suss. I mean even if it was lost in translation, and the driver was not going the way they wanted, wouldn't you just yell out and wave him to pull over rather than get aggressive?
