Yes, that's right and yet another reason many of those who know aren't there waiting around for it to happen. When he dies ( and we all know its not far far away) whomever is in power will have a better chance of getting thru thru chaos.

Re: Martial law declaired in Thailand!!
Just announced
Its a COUP
military has taken over.
Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha declared on TV pool that the armed forces and police have formed the National Peacekeeping Committee to seize power.
Prayuth announced that power seizure was necessary to protect the life of the people.
Thailand will take care of foreigners and continue relations with foreign countries, he said.
Prayuth and the police chief and other armed forces' chef went on TV to announce the coup after the seven-partite meeting at the Army Club failed.
After the talk failed at 4:10 pm, Prayuth ordered the break of the meeting and representatives of five side were taken away in over ten vans to the First Infantry Regiment, located next to the Army Club, the reports said.
The meeting mediated by Prayuth was attended by representatives of the red-shirt movement, the government, the Pheu Thai, the Democrat, the People's Democratic Reform Committee, the Senate and the Election Commission.
Only representatives of the Senate and the EC were not taken away in the military truck.

Bound to happen.
You can't contest it if the troops are already on the street.

Thai army chief announces military coup, troops take protest leader away

BANGKOK (AFP) - Thailand’s army chief announced in a televised address to the nation on Thursday that the armed forces were seizing power after months of deadly political turmoil.
“In order for the country to return to normal quickly, the National Peace Keeping Committee comprised of the army, the Thai armed forces, the Royal Air Force and the police need to seize power as of May 22 at 4.30 pm,†army chief Prayut Chan-O-Cha said.
The commander-in-chief, who invoked martial law on Tuesday, said the coup was needed to prevent the conflict escalating.
“All Thais must remain calm and government officials must work as normal,†he added.
The move came after military-hosted talks between the kingdom’s political rivals apparently failed to reach a compromise on ending nearly seven months of mass protests on the streets of Bangkok.
Rival protest leaders at the talks – held at a heavily guarded military facility in the capital – were seen being taken away by the army, although it was unclear whether they had been formally detained.

If your seeking night time fun;
DONT come to Thailand.
Thailand's army chief seized power Thursday in a bloodless coup, mounting the country's 12th military takeover since 1932 in what he called a necessary move to restore stability after nearly seven months of political deadlock and deadly violence.
Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha said a military commission that imposed martial law two days earlier would now take control of the country's administration. All national broadcasting was suspended and replaced with the commission's announcements and broadcasts of patriotic music.
The first announcement was a nationwide curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Thaksin rejects Prayuth's proposal to have caretaker govt resign
The Nation
BANGKOK: -- Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra rejected the proposal by Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha that the Pheu Thai-led caretaker government resign, a Pheu Thai source said on Thursday.
The source said Prayuth came up with three proposals during the seven-partite meeting on Wednesday. First, he proposed that a caretaker Cabinet to resign, secondly that an interim government be formed and thirdly, that both the red-shirt movement and the People's Democratic Reform Committee end their rallies, according to the source.
The Pheu Thai representatives duly informed Thaksin of the proposals but he rejected them all and told Pheu Thai to fight to the full extent possible within the legal framework.
The source said Thaksin counter-proposed that the Army should instead arrange for blanket amnesty for all sides and the Shinawatra family would wash its hands of politics.
The source said Thaksin would also campaign to step up pressure on the Army to have the next election held as soon as possible.
