Time for a haircut (end of wedding day one)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Time for a haircut (end of wedding day one)

Almost forgot about the defining ceremony of the day one. The haircut.

As the engagement is all about the rings...

The wonderful village water gave my finger blisters under the ring and I was forced to wear the ring on the opposite hand or different finger for the duration.

Missus didn’t go unscathed either. She suffered skin welts from the endless rounds of costume jewelry.

The prime event of the first day of the wedding ceremony is the (thankfully) cutting of the hair.

Image

It’s a symbolic cutting the cords of the old life and starting a new life together.

After another round of small flowers being liberally sprinkled by the immediate family with replacement mom.

Comes the hair cut. Along with a dose of candle smoke, and being blessed by holy water.

Not just done by immediate family, but by all well wishers involved.

I took a long shower that night. Maybe five or six cold bucket dumps of water.

Did they trim the bush too?
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

Sorry for the long delay. Needed to collect photos from the photography studio. Definitely not six months yet.
