There is a fair amount of nice temples and stuff to see there. Get a guidebook somewhere. Taiwan is one of the better places out there apparently

I thought it was very grey and dull, like Belgium, which surprised me.shnoukieBRO wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 8:25 pm There is a fair amount of nice temples and stuff to see there. Get a guidebook somewhere. Taiwan is one of the better places out there apparently

The east coast of Taiwan is very beautiful. Take a trip to Hualien and from there visit Taroko National Park.
In Taipei, visit one or more of the night markets. They are buzzing and have plenty of people and great food. Just Google night markets Taipei.
Taipei has a great subway system (MRT) and at many stations they have bicycles to continue your journey. Nice parks and great food all over the city.
Also in Taipei, the National Palace Museum is perhaps the largest museum of Chinese art and cultural artifacts on the planet. From there you could continue to Yangmingshan National Park.
Visit Taipei 101. For a while it was the earth’s tallest building. It features dampers and a huge pendulum to withstand earthquakes.

Take the fast train south to Kaoshung (not spelled like that!) for spotless, sleepy beaches and rugged coastlines. Beautiful scenery, best enjoyed on a bicycle.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Some can be seen in a few days, other might take a month or more to take it all in.
