Re: Where Can I Buy Good Sunglasses
But how would you know you were not buying a fake Chinese pair worth 5 $ ?
I've had plenty of nice sunglasses, Armani, Byblos, Cutler & Gross etc, so I can tell the difference. The last pair of Armanis I had lasted me 10 years, and these Polars have lasted more than two without any problems. Those cheap ones only look good for a few days and they have no real protection. Buying them from an actual opticians rather than just whatever shop is also a good idea so you don't end up with rubbish.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I bought a pair of Polar brand there a while back, polarized/UV etc, maybe $50. The same would cost just a bit more in the west, while true luxury brands cost a bit more here. If you look into it nearly all the prescription and sunglasses worldwide are actually made by the same company. It is worth getting a decent pair with good protection, the sun here will destroy your eyes if you aren't careful.
Amazing isn't it that Luxxotica has almost a monopoly on the fabrication of high-end sunglasses. I think they don't even list all brands they make:

JUDGEDREDD posted http://www.sunglasses.com/ but if you would really would want to order online (doubt that...) then have a look in Italy at Giarre - http://www.giarre.com/. Wide selection of brands, and they show the size in length-bridge-temples to get an idea how the model will fit. Places like Smartbuyglasses also let you use a video to check how the glasses look on your face: https://www.smartbuyglasses.com/virtual-try-on

Cheap fake sunglasses have no UV protection, the darkness of the glass makes your pupils expand which allows in more UV light, therefore damaging your eyes if you're without a filter, never wear moody sunnies!

I thought clear plastic cut something like 90% of UVA and 100% of UVB so I'm surprised to here you say that cheap sunnies provide no protection.
Guess I'd better Google it.

Re: Where Can I Buy Good Sunglasses
I'm not 100% sure on that but there's a reason UV protection exists in sunglasses, due to the darkness your pupils will dilate and allow in more light which includes the UV rays, it's a standard in real sunglasses and I guess there's a reason for it. You only get one set of eyeballs!Barang chgout wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 7:29 am I thought clear plastic cut something like 90% of UVA and 100% of UVB so I'm surprised to here you say that cheap sunnies provide no protection.

Edit - I don't think you're paying a premium for UV protection because it's standard, you're paying a premium for the brand. Anyway, never use moody sunglasses bought from randoms.

Bought a pair of Rayban Aviator lookalikes from Eye Care in Aeon Mall.
Full UV protection and Polarized. $29 with a case, a cleaning thingy and even a fancy bag. If I loose them, scratch them or sit on them, who cares at that price.
I even managed to get a small bag of fertiliser from the garden centre while I was there. The most successful shopping trip, by far, of my 14 months here....
I'm trying to think of something else that I need to test you out with...

Exactly ! This is why his reply was one more useless one. But mine about Decathlon was of course the best and most helpful.

Yes, this is true and the reason why buying from a reliable supplier is important.
Except large international companies I would not trust anyone in Cambodia.
