As stated above, there is plenty of fresh info on the Thai expat platforms. This is only one incident at Poipet. Better avoid that place. Flights into BKK and DMK are supposedly as risky. I have an upcoming flight out of BKK. I m tending now to use another overland entry point to avoid that kind of treatment. Tickets, cash, number of entries all ok on my side. It is just that those Poipet officers are bad.
No need to suspect that those foreigners trying to enter Thailand are terrible people.

yes, some are getting caught, so what 10, 50, 200/year out of the 35 million that visit thailand?

if ur not abusing the system, there is no problem
I have had flights in and out of thailand and land crossings going back to the 70's
never had a problem

IF ur getting tourist visas and than extending ( so u get 90 days) 2-3x in a year, along with 2, 3 visa exempt entries, Thailand assumes, ( rightly or wrongly) that u must be working in Thailand. Otherwise where is ur $$ coming from?
Its at their discretion to allow u in or notand at some point ther going to say. Nope....cant come in.
There is no visa, for those that made tons of $$ at 25, 30, 40 and have no need to work<( well Malaysia u can apply for the second home program) and there might be other countries that allow you to stay

Even Camboida is clamping down

IF u have the $$$, get an elite visa valid for 5 year stay in thailand, BUT its not cheap

There were always refusals. The increase in numbers and the sort of people target now mark a significant change in policy. This applies to circles within the immigration while the embassies apply the law. Same holds true for land entry points other than Aran/Poipet and, possibly, Ranong.

Expats in Cambodia are to be aware that the 2 land entries per year are no longer guaranteed. Similarly, Bangkok airport immigration might behave in the same way and that could cost a lot as you cant simply walk back. The airline will sell you a ticket at a premium. Until departure you will be held in a deportation holding space in the airport. The photos posted by some victims are really discouraging. Some people without the necessary funds to buy an expensive long distance ticket are stuck for weeks.

Perhaps those flying for their runs might consider KUL instead of BKK/DMK. Those who cant get visa free entry to Vietnam for 15 days are anyhow in a much better situation. Short bus ride of cheap flight and you're in a civilized place.
