Where there is smoke there is

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Where there is smoke there is

Post by Duncan »

Just told one of these guys tourists get sick from the smoke and go to Vietnam or Thailand and say Cambodia not good.

He immediatly called up his buddies and three of them went and put it out.

Give them all karma points.

Well played... a little white lie never hurt anyone.

I suppose it's true that travellers go to T-land and VN, but they won't escape the burning trash there, nor in Laos.

And burning the ghost money etc. is worse!

Excellent work Duncan. You're the man. :thumb:

Now get down here to Sihanoukville and tell them that tourists will go back to China and complain about how polluted the air is here. :plus1: I have three fires on the horizon right now for you.
The other day I counted twelve blacksmoke fires in one afternoon. They must've been burning off the construction site rubbish - giant clouds of black black smoke with lots of lovely particles.
Then again, there is the conundrum of deciding whether the smoke and air pollution of fires is better or worse for the population than street rubbish, rats and disease. :?

We are complaining about a flea bit on our butt. This is where our real problem is.

The US military is the worlds biggest polluter and I don't see that ever changing.

This planet is doomed, I tell thee, doomed, doomed, doomed.

When Aramco IPOs and the Rockefellers sell their oil assets you can safely assume there's is new source of energy...

Orbiting Solar Farms
Pacific Gas and Electric Company, which serves San Francisco and northern California, has agreed to buy electricity from a startup company claiming to have found a way to unlock the potential power supply in space.

The initial plan is for the firm Solaren Corp to provide some 200MW of electricity. Solaren, which is based in Manhattan Beach, California, says it will launch a satellite with an array of solar panels around 22,000 miles above the earth's equator using existing rocket technology, and then convert the power generated into radio-frequency transmissions. The radio waves would be beamed back down to antennae in Fresno, California and then converted into electricity and fed into the regular power grid, PG&E said.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... technology
Solaren executives claim that by 2016 they can make the technology operational to harness energy from space. Gary Spirnak commented, “If our numbers are anywhere near where we think they will be, we will be able to provide power at a cost that’s comparable with anything on Earth, that is much cleaner and all from space.” Solaren has an ambitious plan to produce enough electricity for 150,000 homes across much of Northern and Central California. The California Public Utilities Commission is evaluating Solaren’s agreement with PG&E.

There was an even more interesting article about this company putting solar panels into space this year-premise for space-based-solar-weapons but the page has been deleted...

Dear God, You are many times online on this forum. May I You ask a question? According the Bible, You created human, first Adam and than Eve, they got 2 sons, but can you tell me, where they could find there wife's? Because Adam Eve and there sons are the only existing people on that moment on earth.
The God of the Muslims was a little bit smarter, according the Koran, He created human pair by pair!
There are people who cannot imagine that there are other ways of life than their own life.
