We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Sihanoukville, Cambodia News: It is a well known fact that piles of garbage in the street or on the roadside are not hygienic, but they are also a dangerous fire hazard when associated with Sihanoukville's precarious street wiring.

This afternoon at around 4 pm on January 11, 2019, a fire broke out on one of the city's entangled masses of electric wires fixed to a street pole, and then spread to the garbage piles spread out underneath. The incident occurred near the Golden Palace Casino, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville.

Fortunately, the alarm was raised quickly, and help arrived at the scene with police and a fire truck ready to combat the blaze.

However, it was noted that the originally small electrical fire was fired up by the piles of garbage dumped on the roadside. Nobody was injured, but a food trailer close to the scene caught fire and was damaged, and who will pay for that ?

And who is responsible for the dangerous electrical wiring, the mounting piles of street rubbish, and the risk to the people living in these conditions ?
