It is beyond comprehension, what leads a 10yr old boy to kill an infant.

At about 8am on the morning of the 9th of January 2019 in Kompong Chhnang Province a 10 yr old male youth was admonished by his female neighbor who was the mother of a 2yr old boy. A short time later the same youth was seen leading the 2yr old away from the house.

The parents of the 2yr old realised that their son was missing a short time later and a search commenced. At about 1.30pm on the same day the body of the infant was discovered in a dam approximately 1km from his home. The child had drowned.

Local and Provincial Police were called and the CPU notified and attended. Witnesses were located an interviewed and as a result a 10yr old male was detained for questioning. The crime scene and deceased were examined and the death was ruled as suspicious.

Numerous witnesses placed the 10yr old in the company of the infant. During interrogation the youth confessed to drowning the infant because the infants mother had chastised him.

The age of criminal responsibility in Cambodia is 14 years old thus no criminal charges can be laid.

It is a question that many will ask, What leads a 10yr old to kill a 2yr old baby? unfortunately I do not have an answer.
