Why isn't cycling more popular in Cambodia?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I’ve seen lots of barang on expensive bikes $800+ just poodling around. They may as well walk because that’s better exercise and you’ll burn more calories then just pissing around on your carbon fire Cannondale (made in China).

You’ll never get me on a bicycle wearing Lycra. No way.
If you’re over 25yo lay off the Lycra, unless you’re properly fit or are really into road racing but never in sub tropical countries. It’s not nice to look at.

Yeah, you'd expect them to speed up and race past you doing wheelies or some other stunts.
They may as well walk because that’s better exercise..
Sure, walking a few km mainly on the road is a great and very safe option, but using a pogo stick is even better.

I know you can spend $10k on a road bike but in Cambodia I doubt there’s that many. Mostly Giant, Cannondale and Scott (All chinese!).

What bike do you have my German neighbour?

Giant is Taiwanese, Cannondale is US and Scott is Swiss. They are about as Chinese as Apple is.
