I hear the sound, of distant drums

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Yes, if the current trend and rate of Chinese funded development continues.
No, or at least significantly delayed if the economy in China has a major downturn.

And that's what will happen I think, not just in China, but China will face a major beating, maybe this year already. Their economy is so full of nontransparent loans, refinanced with new nontransparent loans..... Xi and his buddies have tried to reform this system but due the economic downturn they gave up on that. Two of my Chinese business partners have gone bankrupt in 2018. Silently. Just a message the production would close for while' after which nothing but silence. And those were no small players. Things are no longer like they were the last 25-30 years in China. At the end of the day the laws of economics re applicable in China as well. You can only manipulate the economy that much, and then.....

And about Cambodia.... The resentment is growing. Fast. For the next elections I predict the massive Chinese invasion will be a major item on the agenda and if the CPP wants to remain power they will have to act. And guess what, they want to remain in power.....

My 2 cents.

I disagree;
the Chinese need the cheap labor the khmers provide.....
and the revenue made from Angkor wat
The Chinese have plenty of cheap labour already.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

bubble economy
world population has doubled in my time globally
even in the developed world which has negative native population growth
china has a generational male cohort of males
note their physical condition of deprived nutrition

they have absolutely ruined and destroyed their own country by environmental degradation

not unique to their culture
tragedy of the commons

yes, absolutely and exclusively
anyone who thinks otherwise has not been there

khmers are sidelined and have to go.

same in poipet, sisopon, ( banteay meanchey) and in the east of the country
even mondulkiri has fallen
it is an invasion make no mistake
all military age males

it has become very obvious in the past 12 months
sv has doubled in population from the invaders

Image

even tiny market stalls have all been occupied

this is a human trait and not exclusive to china

The one child policy was always about this. The West a bit slow to catch on, but after deciding to give away most of our manufacturing industries and making us dependent on China, I guess they don't want us to think about that too much.

That’s what Xi was referring to.

“The 100 years of humiliation”

Not “getting even”, which is a western idealism.
The Chinese may not use the phrase "get even" but they damn sure understand the concept of REVENGE. If you have been watching the propaganda in China lately, you'd be pretty dense not to see that China is being portrayed as a victim whose time has come, and REVENGE first against the Japanese and secondly the West for past indescressons is the primary motivation for Xi's China.
Propaganda is patriotism in other countries.
