All Cambodian ID Cards Must be Renewed by End of 2018

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

National IDs to expire by end of year
November 9, 2018
The Interior Ministry’s identification department has announced that all citizens carrying old ID cards must renew them by the end of the year and those 15-years-old and above who do not yet have cards must get one.

“In order to ensure rights, freedom and legal benefits of individuals, the identification department appeals to all Cambodians to please register new IDs,” a statement from the department on Wednesday said.

It added that the renewal is compulsory for all citizens aged 15 and above, noting that the process can be done at police stations and local government offices around the country.

“We strongly hope that all people who are still using the old ID cards will cooperate and make new IDs,” it said.

Department director Kheang Sokunthea said about 9.6 million Cambodians already got the new cards.

Mr Sokunthea said there is about a month left to register for the new IDs.
“There’s no cost to obtain the new ID cards,” he added.

Old ID cards useless next month
The Interior Ministry’s General Identification Department on Wednesday reminded the public to update their old identity cards by the end of the month.

Lieutenant General Kheang Sokunthea, director of the identification card department, said people must renew their identity cards.

Lt Gen Sokunthea added that renewal is compulsory for all citizens aged 15 and above, noting that the process can be done at police stations, district police offices, provincial police offices, the identity card department and other GID offices.

The differences between the old and new identity cards are that the new cards have an embedded microchip .

The numbers make good reading. 9,6 million have I D cards.
Each card has a micro chip so it's easy to deduct the numbers of people between 15 and 18.
That leaves a balance of ?? elegable to vote plus those that don't have ID cards.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
