Burma: when the fairy tale is over

Post by phuketrichard »

worth reading

Filmmaker and historian Alex Bescoby makes the case for why even in these dark days it’s more important than ever to consider a visit to Burma.

My first trip was in 1988 right before the country really lost it
Back than you were ONLY allowed 7 days ONLY, had to change $200 at the official rate, ( which was way less than the black market rate)
bring in a bottle of J Walker black and a cartoon of 555's, brought at Bangkok's duty free, would cover ur whole trip expenses almost
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
