Safety in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The rest of us are hoping he builds it and keeps the AR-15 toting morons IN!

Well, I wouldn't build it, as I have no desire to live in a fucking rice swamp.

But, if I ever do build a personal home here, o would forgo the bars in favour of security shutters which could be dressed up nicely.

My house here has no walls, large wooden framed doors and windows

Why do you need doors if there aren't any walls?
Yeah, I couldn’t figure that out either.

Maybe the door is a trapdoor on the floor and the windows are skylights.

Personally, I love the Khmer 'prison style' housing. Its actually really good in case of fire. Darwinism in action.

if you have a male living there 24/7 then it might be okay. i think its like any other country, thieves or neighbors will stake out your house for a few days, see if you're home, and if they know you aren't home, easy target.
