Things are Looking Up for Mondulkiri Coffee Growers
Mondulkiri, Cambodia News: According to a press release from the Cambodian Press Agency yesterday, farmers growing coffee in Mondulkiri are no longer worried about selling prices, because nowadays, a company has come to buy coffee to export abroad, offering affordable prices to farmers.
Representative of Coffe Timor in Mondulkiri, Yas Chantha said that his team has been increasing activities to teach and assist the farmers to grow natural coffee which can be exported abroad.

Farmers living in Pichdi Da said that the price of dry coffee sold up to 10,000 riels a kilo, compared to last year's 7,000 riel. The higher prices are due to the demand for natural coffee beans grown without chemicals.
The farmer, Roy, who lives in Pouhang village, Busa district, Pichida district, said his family had an area of 8 hectares and is currently harvesting. Roi said coffee was a simple crop, easy to plant and maintain, not as difficult as pepper. Harvesting can begin two and a half years from the date of planting. He confirmed that the price of coffee in 2017 was 6,000 riels to 7,000 riels, but that this year he could sell a kilogram of dry coffee beans for 10,000 riel.
