Sharing and Caring
There are a lot of photos on here where people share their experiences as well as those in the news. I thought I would share with you my recent operation and photos, they are actually quiet good.
The right hip was pretty straight forward. Only a 15" posterior approach opening to enable the surgeon to access the pins in the right pelvis, do some re shaping and then dislocate the femur, cut off the ball, ream out the socket and then put in the titanium stem, ceramic head and a new ceramic/polyethylene socket. Simple two hour operation.
Two weeks later we move up a notch. An 18" insertion into the left hip from the rear of the buttocks (semi posterior approach). Re shaping and scraping of the pelvis after MRI scans and a 3D picture. 6 titanium plates put in. Then the repeat on the hip joint. This was a 6 hour operation.
In between these operations I was kept on Immunosuppressive drugs as well as morphine for the right hip. They wanted to do a spinal anaesthetic but I insisted on a general one. Big mistake as the recovery is much longer. Now I am home scratching away at my skin due to the 100mg of morphine tabs each day (reducing rapidly).
Enjoy.

I'm sure your body must have looked like this after some of your fights. The legs are just useless lumps of meat at present.
The comments on the arse made me think that this must be the view second row forwards get of it.

Re: Sharing and Caring
Why did you insist on no spinal? Usually it’s spinal then general afterwards. Not necessarily either or. Also epidural if significant post-operative pain is expected for the next few days. And why the need for immunosuppressives after surgery?
