I agree with that.
Actually, I hear our students get paid $300 a month to study with us. Money to the teachers. Money to the students. Money for everyone here! !wackyjacky wrote:Better than Alsaka ?StroppyChops wrote:Is it Dubai in which every citizen receives a massive cash 'bonus' from the nation every year... ?Satiated Parrot wrote:I heard a lot live in poverty.
Wow. Things have certainly changed. American brand stores are EVERYWHERE here, it's unreal.Soi Dog wrote:I went to Saudi for the first time well over a decade ago to meet with some local construction contractors for a joint venture project there. After we signed the agreement, the four Saudi nationals who escorted me around pulled out five cans of Pepsi cola and said we must celebrate with an American drink in my honor. They each looked around like they were trying not to be caught doing something illegal or immoral as they sneaked little sips and then concealed the Pepsi cans the best they could. When I asked why the stealth, they said there was an official boycott of all American soft drinks to show Saudi Arabia's disapproval of the US support for Israel, and getting caught drinking Pepsi cola by the roving morality police would surely result in them being beaten and locked up.
There are really nice shopping streets with more random Western brands than most Western malls have. They also have "conflicting" regional brands that you won't see in one place beck in the States. Meaning they have West Coast brands you won't find in the East Coast, and vice versa.
I did have a good laugh at a high-end berka (or whatever the black cloth full covering thing for women is called) where it was just rows and rows of the exact same looking burkas on display. I actually saw a lady hold up 2 of them against her and asking her friend which was was better! LMMFAO! I almost died laughing. Shit, I probably will die from laughing here.
LoL, nothing revealing here...vladimir wrote:
I'd work for survival wages on Lake Malawi, but no way I'm going to Saudi even with $4K/month until I'm really, really down and out.
The bridge option might be more preferable.
Ha! Damn you both! Facebook friends that are trying to get me fucking killed over my first picture out of here, LoL..StroppyChops wrote:Ah yes, but YSSS contains a covert "shaitanic" message.Digg3r wrote:I hear they now execute for possession of YSSS...

Re: Saudi Arabia Executes Four for Drug Possession
And I stand by what I said - the Internet is not America, nor Australia, nor Saudi Arabia, nor Christian, nor Muslim, and his threats are unwelcome. I'll tell him the same when he gets in here and threatens to behead me.
I still think someone at Coca-cola is being funny, though, look at YSSS sideways and see if you can see the name of a religious leader hiding in there...
Edit: the cracker was Sonic telling his arab mate, "Oh, don't mind Stroppy, he's passive/aggressive" when the [removed by author] was the only one being aggressive! Before you start calling me Islamophobe (again), there's a lot more to the thread that Sonic didn't post (probably for reasons of space).

LoL, feel free to post more from that thread, as long as you COMPLETELY hide avatars names, etc. I think it has over 75 replies, which I probably need to wax if I plan to add any Saudi buddies..StroppyChops wrote: Before you start calling me Islamophobe (again), there's a lot more to the thread that Sonic didn't post (probably for reasons of space).[/i]

No no, I think you accurately gave the gist of it, but no doubt someone will be along shortly to tell me why I'm intolerant. Incidentally, I think your friends and family from the States gave my thoughtful and respectful comments more Likes than anyone else in that thread... just sayin'.General Mackevili wrote:LoL, feel free to post more from that thread, as long as you COMPLETELY hide avatars names, etc. I think it has over 75 replies, which I probably need to wax if I plan to add any Saudi buddies..StroppyChops wrote: Before you start calling me Islamophobe (again), there's a lot more to the thread that Sonic didn't post (probably for reasons of space).[/i]
Yeah, you've got a real problem on your hands introducing your new friends to the 'family back home' - especially when your new friends behave like that. Good luck with that, sincerely.

And the ironic part......I met that Saudi a few months back in.......wait for it...... PONTOON! !StroppyChops wrote:

LoL.
I feel him a little though. He's studying in the States right now (in the South, no less) and I'm sure he comes across the most ignorant of Americans there. Then, the first picture I post from Saudi gets a lot of insults (in a playful way, and besides, he doesn't see how hard we insult each other on CEO or in general) which make fun of his national religion, religious dudes and their food. So he's naturally a little sensitive.
Oh well.

Hang on, before your Stockholm Syndrome really sets in, let's get it on the record then...
I left my FB photo in for readability, and Digg3r just doesn't care.

Personally, I think that's some of the funniest collective writing since the Writer's Strike...
