Fire at Psar Leu Petrol Station, Sihanoukville

Preah Sihanouk province: At 11 am on the morning of November 4, 2018, fire trucks were called to a fire that broke out on the street outside the petrol station across the road from Psar Leu, in Sihanoukville downtown.

According to preliminary reports, the incident was caused by spilt petrol which caught fire, burning a car and a motorbike. Then the fire began to spread, much to the alarm of the locals, and authorities and rescue teams rushed to intervene. Fortunately, they were able to contain the spread of the blaze.

According to one source at the scene, before the accident, a motorbike went into get gasoline(petrol) and the owner did not turn off his engine. In total, the fire has damaged four cars, one motorbike and the petrol station building. Police are still investigating the circumstances.

Petrol fire injures one, destroys vehicles
4 November 2018
One person was injured and four cars and a tuk-tuk were destroyed today after a fire sparked at a gasoline vendor’s shop near Sihanoukville’s Phsar Leu market.

A report from the Sihanoukville administration said the fire began due to a gasoline leak at the vendor’s shop.

It noted that the fire then spread and destroyed four cars and a tuk-tuk.

“No one was killed in the fire and the fire was extinguished within an hour,” it added. “One person was injured and hospitalised.”
Provincial police chief Choun Narin said firefighters were quick to respond.

Saw some fire trucks coming back from the direction of Psar Leu about 11:30am today, so it must have been a big dirty blaze that was spectacular, but quickly mastered.
There's so much burning rubbish and plastic smells in the air that I didn't even know there had been a fire, until I read it here and put two and two together.

5 November 2018: As a result of the fire caused by a petrol supplier yesterday at Psar Leu, Sihanoukville's main market, the governor of Sihanoukville has said that he may introduce new rules on the location of all premises selling petrol and similar volatile products. In this case, it was fortunate that the fire was extinguished rapidly by fire-fighters before it spread to the neighboring market.
