Tokyo Barber Shop

Post by newkidontheblock » Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:33 am

My go to barber shop at home is a 1950s themed place, loaded with stuffed animals (previous owner was an avid hunter). I was accustomed to sitting the big overstuffed chair, spun around a few times, stray hair washed away with an air hose, and finished out with straight edge barber razor. The only thing I hate is the hair afterwards. Got hair on face, the clothes, etc. always needs an immediate shower.

But based on the many recommendations of CEO, I wanted to try this place. I decided not to get the traditional hair cut before going to Cambodia and to get it done here.

The barber looked sharp, and the ladies didn’t look like second hand items from Golden Sorya Mall, low level western pop music not grating on the soul.

First step was the a required hair washing. One the ladies washed. I have never had anyone wash my hair before, so it was different. She wrapped me up in towels and proceeded to massage shampoo into my head. She then did a soapy head and neck kneading, and finished up with a rudimentary back massage. Not sure if I liked it or not.

The barber was meticulous. The shop is set up with double mirrors and he checked the back mirror constantly.

The cut was good, and he ended it was a straight razor finish!

Best of all, no hair everywhere.

Definite recommend.

What is the purpose of these threads? You don't seem to re-visit them to discuss anything.

No singing animals. But a huge assortment. From the stuffed bear to an armadillo cradling a bottle of Coca Cola. Shot ‘em all and brought them back.
