My impression was that Thais used to always go to great lengths to protect tourists and foreigners. Thai problems such as crime and civil unrest remained Thai issues. Over the years, Thai perceptions have changed, and so has foreign perceptions of Thailand. Foreigners are treated more or less the same as locals and exposed to the same issues and problems.

1 out of 10 murders in thailand end up on thai news in english so it might seem like there is not that many murders, same as robberies and such, many violent crimes dont even make it up on thai news, crime is underreported in thailand and police is not doing a great job keeping track of crime statistics....

but most those murders are Thai vs Thai, they are not murders on farrang
in England i am more likely to run into trouble than when im living in Thailand/Cambodia

Every person har more chance of getting in to troubke in Their homecountries than on vacations, i can also Link crime articles and such and say it is more dangerous for me in thailand because im thai,

im just tired of europeans that complain and Whine about Their countries about how dangerous it is and it is a lawless shithole i know europe not got the best governments and leaders but from a crime viewpoint europe is heaven, me being from thailand but living in a Swedish "no go zone" ive never been worried or been Victim of crime or my family, cant say the same things for cambodian and never thailand, i would live in europes worse area than in thailand worse för sure.

yeah its true, Thailand has a higher murder rate, and you have lived in a Swedish "no go zone", so what?
if you didnt feel a victim there then that means you are not about that, the social circles you hang around with are not about that, but that doesnt mean the place or any other place isnt dangerous or that it doesnt happen, me being who i am and the way i look or the people i hang around with, it attracts trouble, if i go out on a night out in the UK im at far greater risk of attracting trouble then i am over here, your point is mute, i stated i feel safer here than i do in the UK, which i do, who are you to question that?

the reason why the UK murder rate is so low is due to the lack of access to guns, if you read my post it pointed out we have one of the worst knife crime rates in the world, whilst in Thailand you could get shot, in the UK you could get stabbed, while the chance of dying is a little less, it doesnt make it any safer

If you take just the statistics, you're right. Based on ratio : the number of the population/murder => Thailand is more dangerous than many of european countries. But if we talk about the sense of insecurity, it depend of the people, your personnal history. I can tell you that I was feeling safer in the redlight district of Phnom Penh at midnight than where I live in France, in daylight. And here in France depend of where you live: Big/small city, downtown, suburbs, etc... Maybe France as less murder than Thailand but I can assure you that many people living in the suburbs of Marseille would dream to move to Bangkok.
