Re: What's up with the 440 Link Modification?
Its because Google now cares about quality and diversity over quantity for backlinks.
Now it takes relatively few as long as they're well placed and not all coming from the same "type" of source. Link exchange sites are dead... Pay link sites are now negative ranking... And a few good links on related sites can go a long long way.

Re: What's up with the 440 Link Modification?
I don't think you've proven your case. They don't index nofollow links and they don't pass on any SEO benefits to nofollow links, which is the reason you said you were doing this. My 2 cents for what it's worth (not much) is there's no point in keeping a forum war going, take the high road.OrangeDragon wrote:Matt Cutts (the lead guy at Google who controls the knobs and dials on their search algorithm) has stated that their engine takes "nofollow" literally and does not "follow" the link at all. But studies reveal that Google does follow the link, but it does not index the linked-to page, unless it was in Google's index already for other reasons (such as other, DoFollow links that point to the page). This is an important piece of the equation that should be noted.

Because it was less about 440, and more about explaining to people why their posts had been edited. People who may not necessarily read this thread.General Mackevili wrote:And why the fuck is this in its own thread?

Re: If You Have Something Random to Say About K440, Put It H
I remember a while back, some newbie K440 poster tried posting some very basic, random cartoons he drew. They were just simple stick figures, iirc. He never got very far, because one owner (who is still an owner) insulted that person and criticized his "stupid cartoons". They may not have been very good. I don't remember them much. Does anyone else remember that poster? Can anyone find them in the K440 archives? I did a search there for "cartoons" but didn't see the ones by the particular poster I was thinking about. I bring it up because I thought it was a unique idea for a forum contribution.
