Living in South East Asia on $400 USD a month?

Post by Beerinthemorning »

Just wandering what you guys are thinking, is it possible to live of his amount of cash? Really i mean if i work in Australia for the rest of my life i would say the living standard would be similar to living off 400USD per month in SEA but with less work, and more culturally stimulating.

Whats the answer CEO?

Try it, it would give you plenty more to complain about.

I guess there is a fine line between minimalist living and being a bum....

If you have no kids
If you don't do too much traveling to the big P or seaside or wherever
If you eat the local food / don't eat out
and more stuff like that

For example we spend about 200$ on food only. That's just local food. Drinking water, soft drinks and beer not included. For four people though.

My hobby pay at least 500$ for his stay in 5 days in Srok Khmer! Have no idea about how much for comfortable live here for a month for barang!
I guess you have to put everything in your pay check and try it on.
Good luck!

I could see how having a local host could be a key part of survival.

why not find some older local female, move in with her, cook and clean for her and use the 400$ for booze and nights out on the town 2 or 3 times a week.

Something missing in that equation. You haven't allowed for money for Smartphone calls, electricity, gas for moto, her kids want money , family sick,,,,, and the list goes on and on and on.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
