Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: A 32-year-old Chinese man, Chen Leang and his Cambodian wife, Ouk Chantou, 32-year-old, were arrested and sent to court on October 4, 2018, for human trafficking to China. The suspects were arrested based on the complaint of a woman victim who was sent back from China after being forced to work as a prostitute.

In 2017, the suspect, Chen Leang, got an order from a man, named Ou,a 52-year-old Chinese casino owner in Souchao city, China, who was looking for Cambodian people to work for him. The suspect told his wife to find people for him to send to China, and she convinced seven people, including 3 women. The victims were told that they would get $1,200 per month, and that the company would handle other expenses such as passport service and flight ticket.

However, in reality, once the victims arrived in China, they were forced to work without being paid at all, and were arrested for working illegally. One of the woman got sold for sexual services until she became pregnant. Chinese immigration authorities banned her from the country and sent her back to Cambodia.
