why did you leave home?

This is a part of our Cambodia forums to chat about anything Cambodia-related. This discussion forum is at the top of our site because it's usually the busiest part of the expat community chatter with random topics on just about everything, including expat life, Khmer politics, Cambodian blogs we have or have come across, or whatever else our members want to discuss. Whether you're an expatriate, tourist, Cambodian or random traveler just passing through South East Asia, you are welcome to talk about anything or start new topics yourselves.

why did you leave home?

Post by phuketrichard » Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:27 am

Came across this written by Philip Caputo, ( who was in the featured in the Vietnam war tv series, in the army and latter a writer)
it really hit home to me

"Some guys keep moving because they're curious. They've got to see the other side of the hill. Some guys like variety, but Greene, he was always on the move because he was miserable inside. Guess he's settled down now that he is an old man, but back than, he was afraid of what he might do if he ever stopped moving or maybe he was afraid he'd have to face something about himself he didn't want to face"
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
