Two Car Accidents Caused by Foreigners in Phnom Penh; 5 Injured

Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: Two separate traffic accidents, both involving foreigners crashing into Cambodians on motorbikes, were reported in Phnom Penh on the night of 18 and 19 September 2018.

In the first incident, at around 10pm on September 18, 2018, witnesses saw a Chinese man in a Toyota Alphard, plate number 2AD-8668, hit a Honda Dream motorcycle ridden by a man accompanied his wife and 7 year old child. The child was seriously injured and the father and mother suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred near the Council of Ministers building along the Russian Boulevard in Daun Penh district and led to a 1km chase up to Neak Vannao pagoda, as the driver tried to escape chased by an angry mob.

In the second accident caused by a foreign driver, at 06:20 am on September 19, 2018, two men on an MSX motorbike were seriously injured after getting hit by a Prius driven by an Indonesian man, aged about 30 years old, who works at the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh.
The victims, identified as Khek Soseyla, 22-year-old and Khek Sokvicheka, 19-year-old, were taken to the hospital immediately.

The police have detained the Indonesian man and taken him to the police station. The damaged vehicles were also taken into police custody.
