Re: Help needed about acquiring documents
This is the Cambodian government. Rules are made up by the individual government employee as they see fit. When I went to the Department of Anti Sex Trafficking, the intake guy said all documents had to have the original ink, as well as seals. Letter of income, not original ink, no corporate seal, rejected. Criminal background check, same. Other documents had a cover page signed by the judge and county clerk and sealed. Page was tossed aside and documents rejected for not having the original ink and seal inside the document itself. I was almost thinking he was going to scold me for not having a signed letter from my parents. After talking to the fixer, we were processed through. But still told that I had to return with all such documents that he deemed fit and present it to him before any sangkat letter would be issued.
A week after, the fixer guy gave missus the letter to take to the Sangkat.

Texas has a website you can order pretty much any document or ID you need and pay with credit card and they mail it.
Hopefully your state has the same.

When I was home in June I did the FBI criminal record check which was $60. Fingerprints were taken at a UPS store and uploaded to FBI system. A few weeks later I received the results. The guy will not accept them unless notarized. He said there should be a government seal and mine are copies. Only they are not
How did you handle your criminal record check?
I went the easy and cheaper route and got mine from Texas Dept of Public Safety and it was accepted even though it just covers 1 state.

No man. I went to the embassy for the single status affidavit. I wrote on affidavit that I am currently single, but Divorced in 2002. They notarized it. I gave that to MoFA. MoFA wants the original or certified copy with raised seal from the state court system.Kammekor wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 1:55 am Your story still confuses me though....
You have a document stated you're divorced. Legalized by your embassy. Correct?
Then why would they need the the underlying court order? It's like asking for your birth certificate when you show your passport, or like asking for your first grade primary school report when your apply for uni. You need a certain document to be able to get another, and when you have the final documents, you still have to show all the documents you acquired down the road.......
