Cambodian Household Debt is Cause for Concern

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The family rice plot is sold for next to nothing for a new moto, color TV or karaoke machine. Not long afterwards mom and dad discover they no longer have the means to break even and borrow from a credit union or local Shylock, plunging themselves further in debt and eventually lose the house. Then it's off to Thailand and any non productive kids are left with relatives. Parents go broke and families get broken.

The Cambodia I fell in love with no longer exists.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
I believe I have seen those words elsewhere, but it little matters. It takes less time to fall in love than it does to fall out of it. Love endures even when pain persists.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

One hypothetical question. How somebody can buy reposes property / farms in Cambodia? In other country there is adds in the newspaper, auctions, and sell of true banks.

MiFi do not want to take land. That’s not a very good business model.

Think about it.
Why is that a bad business model? Picking up land for a fraction of the value whilst also receiving interest payments for a period of time

the amount of tea money n legal fees involved may make it not worth it for small loan value
Money is not the problem, the problem is no money
