Re: Has anyone been regularly using Google Translate for Khm
On earlier versions of Android I had to install a sketchy language pack, but on the latest version it already showed up. I don't type in Khmer, so haven't tried any keyboard.cara wrote:Is there any keyboard u hv to install.. first look at the Khmer writing.. omg! Confusing.. lol
Hmmmm.. It's not super common, but you will come across Cambodians that speak it from time to time.cara wrote:Btw.. another question: is Francais actively used in PP?
What exactly do you mean?StroppyChops wrote:Has anyone worked out how to get Google Translate to show alternate translations on the mobile version?
I can translate from Khmer script to other languages besides English...

The full browser version allows you to select from various translations (in this case, Khmer translations) by clicking on the offered translation and selecting from a popup list of others - doesn't seem to exist in the mobile browser version. I'll get some screenshots if still unclear.General Mackevili wrote:What exactly do you mean?StroppyChops wrote:Has anyone worked out how to get Google Translate to show alternate translations on the mobile version?

I tried to use it to ask for kecap manis or sweet soy... Didn't go well at all!

Actually Google Translate will work best if you just translate only word by word. It will go crazy when it comes to translate the sentence or whole article. As a Translator, i would not suggest you guys to use Google Translate for any official documents.

This works only if the seller is able to read (and write)Sir_Quality_U_Feel wrote:Used it this morning to ask for soy sauce for my Bai Sach Chhrouk. Worked great.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Yeah, I have to use it a lot to decipher Khmer news, and it's really hard sometimes.Soumy Phan wrote:Actually Google Translate will work best if you just translate only word by word. Still seems to be getting noticeably better month by month.
Unfortunately it's my only hope of understanding the local news without being able to read Khmer.

Is it me or has Chrome stopped automatically translating Khmer websites? It used to translate them, now it has stopped and I can't turn it back on.
