Maid repatriated from Saudi Arabia
Another Cambodian maid was repatriated from Saudi Arabia on Thursday after she was cheated by her employment brokers, a Labour Ministry official said on Saturday.
Othsman Hassan, a Labour Ministry secretary of state, said 22-year-old Ly Samros was abandoned by her employment agency and left alone with her employer in Saudi Arabia for 14 months.
Mr Hassan added that Ms Samros was forced to work overtime and feared for her safety. He said Ms Samros escaped her employer’s home and contacted the authorities to intervene.
“She’s the fifth woman I have rescued from Saudi Arabia after they were cheated by their brokers,” Mr Hassan said. “They were working there illegally.”

Re: Another Cambodian maid escapes from Saudi Arabia
Yes, in a very nearby country the same happens. First hand observation. Then again, happens to many travelling via the "ww.rendition agency" as well. Lets not forget, MRGA.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 12:28 am That's deplorable. It's not exactly exceptional though, Cambodian migrants to neighboring states often suffer horrific conditions and terrible abuse, and who even knows what happens those who go to the Gulf? There need to be better support systems so people can check back home and not undergo years of slavery.
