Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Camcontrol, the quality inspection arm of the Ministry of Commerce, yesterday issued a statement advising local consumers, importers and retailers to stop the purchase and consumption of Dumex Mamil Gold Infant Milk Formula-Step 1.

According to the statement, Camcontrol will also stop all imports of the product.

The official Facebook page of Dumex Singapore said they have recalled one specific batch of Mamil Gold Infant Milk Formula-Step 1 (850 grams).

“Dumex has been made aware of the possibility that the cronobacter sakazakii bacteria may have been present in two sampled tins from one specific batch of Mamil Gold Infant Formula Stage 1 850 gm (Batch No: 09117R1 Expiry: 11 Sep 2019),” Dumex Singapore said.

“Camcontrol will cooperate with authorities to ban imports of Dumex Mamil Gold Infant Milk Formula-Step 1 to the Kingdom, as well as provide information to importers, wholesalers, and retailers and conduct checks in stores to find the aforementioned product and remove it from shelves,” the statement read.

In January, Camcontrol issued a similar statement, calling on local consumers, importers and retailers to stop the purchase and consumption of a different brand of infant milk powders: Lactalis. The Lactalis Group is a French manufacturers of dairy products.

Phnom Penh Post

Phnom Penh, 1st September 2018
Dumex Products in Cambodia Not Affected by Recall of Singapore Mamil Gold Infant Formula

Dumex Cambodia acknowledges that the Cambodia Import-Export Inspection and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CAMCONTROL), on 29th August, issued a precautionary statement on the import and distribution in Cambodia of Dumex Mamil Gold Infant Formula-Step 1 with the batch number 09117R1. This followed a precautionary recall of the product in Singapore upon reports that the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) had detected the possible presence of Cronobacter sakazakii bacteria from one specific batch of the product. This product is manufactured for and sold only in Singapore, and is not available for sale in Cambodia.

This is an isolated incident, and there have been no cases of Cronobacter infection associated with the consumption of formula milk reported to the Ministry of Health Singapore this year. To date, we can also confirm that we have not received any consumer reports with regards to our range of products in Cambodia. Dumex would like to underscore our commitment to working hand-in-hand with CAMCONTROL to safeguard the integrity of all brands sold by Dumex in Cambodia.

At Dumex, the quality and safety of our products is our absolute priority. For all our products, we have in place stringent processes and conduct rigorous tests that are of international standards. We would like to confirm that consumers in Cambodia can continue to consume all Dumex products.
