Where is the best place to stay in Phnom Penh?

Post by geordiesky »

For my needs and my needs only. I guess i am very particular about a few somethings.
I don't care much for inhouse or in hotel gyms. I want the real thing, you know. A place where you can basically do a real workout and not wait for the other guy to finish off first, because that is just so boring.

On the other hand, I mean not to diss anyone or to put you down or anything. But beer bars are very important to me and I just have to have one close at hand. Just so that there will be no difficulty finding a beer bar, you know.

Those two are key to me. Without those I could be in Montreal for all I care, so I have got to have those two.
I mean Phnom Penh is a fantastic city. I have no doubt I will have no trouble finding said things, It's just that I am new here and would appreciate some guidance.

Definitely Riverside then. It has great open-air gym, free community dancing exercising with locals and expats every evening.
For beer bars, I suggest any of the numerous minimarts at night, nobody will mind if you drink in public. During daytime, look out for places that serve draft beer for 50 cents.
Can thank me later.

you can rent motorbikes from around $80 per month, unless you are really competent on a motorbike you might want to familiarise yourself with Phnom Penh traffic first, it is something else

Renting with a driver usually starts from a dollar, 50 cents for very short distance. For 3 can get to most places.
Without driver I usually pay 4-5 dollars per day.

I would recommend finding a "beer bar" first, then looking for accommodation close by. It's unlikely we'll ever meet but good luck in your endevours.

Perhaps a List of where "Beer bars" are

we all know streets 104,08,130,136 are full of hostess bars so
where are the beer bars?
and are Cambodian Beer bars the same as beer bars in Pattaya?
