5 classmates killed in one year

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

5 classmates killed in one year

Post by explorer »

A girl who works at her parents shop when she is not studying, has just finished year 11. She told me that 5 of her classmates (out of 30) have been killed in road accidents in one year. All boys.

I have also seen a couple of road accidents recently.

A couple of days ago, I saw a policeman drink a number of beers, then get on his motorbike and ride away.

These things bring home just how dangerous Cambodian roads are.

Just 30 classmates? She must be attending a very exclusive private school.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Yeah, loads of people get squished here, every year. HUndreds. Usually an accident on their motos. Still don't wear helmets or have licences, any road sense etc.

She told me she is scared to travel on the road. The reality is clear to her.

She also told me to be careful on my bicycle, as there are people who may run into me and kill me.

Same for those of us who walk more than a few metres
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.
