Police Manhunt Searching for Beheaders
August 27, 2018
Pursat provincial police are looking for a group of men who beheaded a farmer and threw his body into a river on Friday following an argument over an accident in Phnom Kravanh district’s Santre commune.
District police chief Colonel Tann Kearith identified the victim as Men Tha, 57, a farmer from the province’s Bakan district.
He said that at about 7am on Friday, the victim and his wife were travelling in his truck in the commune’s Kseth Borey village when a group of farmers in another truck hit his vehicle from behind causing minor damage.
Col Kearith noted that the men did not stop to settle the matter and drove on to their farm in a remote area on the outskirts of the village.
He said that Mr Tha was angry and after dropping his wife at their farm, went to the other farm and began arguing with the group for compensation.
“We believe that the suspects were angry with the victim for following them to their farm over the accident,” Col Kearith said. “Based on a post mortem, he was beaten and his head was severed possible with a sickle.”
“After killing him, they took the body and head and threw them into the Kravanh river,” he added.
