Noise cotrol

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

An ethnic (Buddhist) Chinese in Indonesia asked the local mosque to turn down the volume of their call to prayer. Her comments, made in July 2016, triggered an anti-Chinese riot in which several Buddhist temples were burned. Yesterday she was sentenced to 18 months jail. Just for asking them to turn it down. Makes Cambodia seem pretty good.

Mrs Stroppy and I visited the remote Temple on the Lake (Hindu) in the middle of Bali some time back and the Muslim community had just erected their loud speaker system (without consultation with the village elders, community etc) and started blaring their call to prayer many times a day. Kind of judders the nerves when you're there for the serenity of the remote temple on the lake. There were rumblings back then that such events would lead to violence, and it's no secret that Balinese deeply oppose the spread of Islam into "their" island. The Balinese are a different people group to the rest of Indonesia with a different heritage and religion, and about the only thing that will push them to actual action (being the lazy buggers they're proud to be) is religious takeover.

Aw maaaaan. You get morning roosters? I'm so jealous. We get midnight roosters, 2am roosters, an enthusiastic 4.30am rooster, and THEN morning roosters.

And to think,, once upon a time, they were cute cuddly baby chickens we all loved.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
