JC Airlines

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

No
But the new KC Airlines plans to have Phnom Penh - Manila route later this year. And Garuda supposedly starts Phnom Penh - Bali and Lion Air Phnom Penh - Jakarta route in 2019.

aircrafts now a days dont fly slower than before, they fly at the speed according what ever weather conditions, route, schedule dictates, fuel consumption is down becoz of better aircraft design, material used, better engines etc

Not to derail but every time I see the title of this thread...

I think that our own Strop-Meister has decided to start his own airline with a fleet of jet powered tuks.

"United Airlines has invested in flight planning software that helps pilots choose the best routes and speeds. In some cases, that means planes fly at lower speeds. United estimates the software will save it $20 million a year."

"a spokesman for American Airlines. He said the carrier does other things to save fuel — for instance, installing small vertical stabilizers called winglets to the ends of some aircraft wings, which boosts fuel efficiency by improving aerodynamics."

"air traffic controllers to assign its flights to altitudes where they will have less headwind or greater tailwind"

"Below a certain speed — which varies depending on the plane — an aircraft's fuel usage can actually rise"

I wouldn't read too much into a news article, for the following reasons-

1. Modern news hacks are somewhat lacking in comparison to the actual journalists of yesteryear who actually went out into the real world, and made an effort to truly experience the events they were reporting. Now, more than ever, they have a terrible tendency to miss the important detail in their efforts to get the scoop. Quite often, there is a tendency to over simplify the rationale so that it makes sense to the uninitiated, who then report it as gospel, and misinformation becomes a problem.

2. That Article is actually about 10 years old, and much of the discussion in it was out of date or paraphrased (, and as above, misinterpretations or excessive simplifications lead to misinformation.

3. I'm a born again cynic, reincarnated from a cynical worm, hoping to become a cynical snail, but the underlaying thread being...never mind. thats the beer talking
