Chinese patronage at hostess bars

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

Chinese patronage at hostess bars

Post by Clutch Cargo »

Yes, yet another chinese thread..

Now we all know in their quest to take over the world, the chinese are spreading their influence in many ways and places. And no more it seems than in hostess bars lately.

Up until fairly recently at least, droves of tourists have principally been concentrated in Siem Reap for Angkor Wat. Then Snookie became the next favourite destination with the opening of the airport and direct flights from Siem Reap, several casinos and chinese oriented hotels/resorts. In PP and apart from business interests, seems to me tourists have targeted mainly the grand daddy of all casinos Nagaworld and the infamous associated Darlin Darlin nightclub. Then there's been the KTVs in PP with lots of news items around those.

And now it seems there's a growing influx into hostess bars.. How will this pan out? Will we see chinese owned and run hostess bars serving chinese customers exclusively. Perhaps an analogy is Angeles City, Philippines where the Korean influence there has resulted in the establishment of a 'Korea town' district and more and more bars being run by Koreans. And whilst they welcome western customers to drink in their bars, many of the local bar girls working there are refusing to go out with anyone but Korean customers..

Views? Is this the beginning of the end for the PP hostess bar scene as we know it?

Who would you let take you home ?
Everyone is equal. Everyone has a place. No one is written off, because there is worth and goodness in every life... That is the Republican ideal. And if we won't defend it, who will?

Which so stupid given that majority of working girls in those countries charge well under that amount.

It does seem they spend more especially when you see the cuter bar girls do a bee line for the asian customer as soon he walks in. Then again, isn't it the case they only get 1-2 weeks off a year so they tend to lash out and spend up big while they can? And they have relatively short distance, cheaper airfares to get here giving the illusion they are rich?

I'm thrilled when I see the hostess whores flock to Asian dudes. Stupid is as stupid does. Let them piss their $$ away on a bad lay.
