Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cham villagers held in ICE raid, Chhlong, Kratie

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

1 Feburary 2018
One of those dusty quaint Cham villages in the Cambodian countryside revealed a dirty secret yesterday, 31 January, when Cambodia police launched a drug raid on houses in Prek Saman commune, Chhlong district, Kratie province. The police search turned up a large haul of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine in crystal form, also known as ICE.

In total, police recovered 89 packages of white crystals - suspected methamphetamine in total: 79 packages of ICE, 5 packages, and 5 packets - as well as bags of an unknown dark substance, a NOKIA phone, a flashlight, some materials for drug use, and a large number of plastic bags for distributing a large number of drugs.

Four Cham men were arrested, one of whom was only 16 years old. They have been questioned by the Narcotics Brigade and will be charged with detention, use and traffic of illegal drugs.
It has been known for sometime that methamphetamine use is not purely a city scourge, but is also affecting traditional villages far from the temptations of the towns. Ice traffic in particular seems to make its way down the Mekong from the Laos border, seducing the bored youths of the countryside, and providing a means of extra income for poor villagers.

Oh dear, so it was the ice water, not the rice water.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Many Kama points to the police for getting that shit off the streets.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I guess to get it off the streets would be difficult. I imagine all that money goes somewhere.
