11yo Girl Drowns on Riverside, Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh: A tragic event occurred this afternoon, July 15, 2018 in Phsar Kandal 1, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, when the body of an 11 year old girl was recovered from the Tonle Sap river after an accidental drowning. No further details for the moment.
Her family, who were present at the scene, are understandably distraught. RIP.
CEONews Update: It appears that the girl was hanging out with some friends, and her mother was not present. Bystanders had called the police, who launched a rescue boat, but it took them two hours to recover the girl's body.

rip
even if someone saw the kid I doubt theyd be able to swim out to pull her in unless there happen to be a barang around willing to get wet.

How terribly sad!
I was walking along the riverfront and saw the crowd but didn’t realise what was happening.
RIP, poor little darling.

How hard it must be for the mother to continue running the little bookstand facing the river where it happened.
Not sure if I could.

I remember years before she had the book shop she was begging. She was one of the pushiest annoyance along the river. Her daughter was forced to beg too. I used to walk around the block to go to U-care from the other way to avoid her, but I’m sorry to hear the river has punished her harder than I ever thought she deserves. R.I.P. little girl.
