New airline for Cambodia...but soon?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Pattaya is a unique destination, there's nothing like that anywhere else in the whole of Asia, i can't see any political will in cambodia to make something remotely similar in concept and size, and the trend in places like SR is very clear : open air prostitution has been totally wiped off
apart for a single hostess bar (Mikey's) with barely 3-4 rusty girls inside.

The days of cambodia as a lawless sex destination are well and truely over.

I stated Snooky reminds me of Pattaya "years ago" not today.(first there 34 years ago) I remember when the main sewage outlet was at the north end of what is now Walking Street. It dumped raw effluent into the water and people swam in it.(just like Snook's downtown beach.) Nothing works in Snooky? Nothing seemed to work in Pattaya years ago, Same Same, but Different. Police corruption years ago in Pattaya was just as bad as it is now in Snooky. There was nothing at Jomtien 30 years ago, now look at it.

The "key" words here is "Casino" and "Government of China" As I said, if the Cambo government doesn't screw it up, the one Billion dollar Ko Pous project (backed by the government of CHINA), will be a game changer. Four classy hotels, a casino and condos. Its in the planning stage at Interstate Hotels and Casino's headquarters in Virginia, USA and the first major project in Snooky that isn't an outright money laundering scam. Hopefully the greed for money will win over the powers-that-be and they will stop allowing Vietnam Air to have a stranglehold on the Snooky airport.(except for charter flights.)

Best case projection: Ko Pous island becomes a Casino destination and other hotel/casinos benefit. AirAsia, Tiger Air, etc start flights. (There is no doubt Interstate Hotels and Resorts will fly in charters like Nagaworld is doing.) A cash rich worker in Singapore (or Bangkok/KL) gets off of work on Fri afternoon, takes the train to the airport, hops on Tiger or AirAsia.(Air Ko Pous), just over one hour later lands at Snooky, that night is gambling, Sat. is on the beach, Sat. night gambling and Sun. flys back to Singapore. (for a citizen to gamble at Marina Bay Sands he/she must pay a fee of S$100. or S$2000. a year.) Round trip flight SNG/Snooky should be less than $200. Sihanoukville is the only city in Southeast Asia that you can walk out the back of a casino onto a natural (not man made) beach and swim. (Also Boom-Boom is cheaper in Snooky than Singapore.) Weekend junket to gamble, lay on the beach and cheap sex/booze? A no brainer.

Citizens of Singapore have massive disposable income. The new middle class in China has disposable income. The working class and above in Korea have disposable income. And they all like to gamble, with a beach/sex/cheap booze as just good add-on's. Why do you think Nagaworld is buying Airbus jets to fly gamblers in from China? They know were the money is.

if crowds of rich Singaporea start flocking to snooky it will be game over for snooky as a cheap-ass destination, and the girls will start asking 100$ short time ...

Most singaporeans are quite frugal travellers. The monger types tend be the same as the western mongers and spend the same amount of money.
