Two women held after pushing meth
August 6, 2018
Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged two women suspected of dealing crystal meth along a railway near inner-city slums in Daun Penh district.
Captain Veng Lim, district deputy police chief, identified the accused as 35-year-old Bloy Srey Oun and 23-year-old Vy Chanthy, both from Srah Chak commune. The accused were charged with drug trafficking and could face life in prison if convicted.
Cap Lim noted that they were arrested on Friday morning at about 10am after they were suspected of selling methamphetamine along the railway in broad daylight.
“They were arrested by police while they were selling drugs in Srah Chak commune,” he said. “They didn’t appear to fear our presence, and sold drugs like vendors selling cake.”
Cap Lim added that police managed to seize a total of 75 small packages of the drug. “They were arrested with hard evidence,” he said.
He added that both women admitted to being hired by an unidentified man for $10 per day to sell the drugs.
