Honestly thinking about docking for the time taken. Many are of the genuine belief (or choose to deliberately believe incorrectly) that election time means more public holidays, but as wage payers we're pretty fed up with ad hoc unofficial public holidays and make it clear what is, and isn't, a public holiday.
/rant
I think you have to suck up the "excessive" public and adhoc holidays along with the 6 day work weeks and low salaries.Minister of Labour Ith Samheng, the ministry wrote: “The owners and executives of all factories, enterprises and institutions have to allow workers and employees to have three days off from July 28-30 . . . keeping wages and bonuses as usual for the workers and employees.”
We checked the government website that lists public holidays right up to the election, and the election was not listed. We also checked as many potential sources as possible and found no reference to the quote above, but clearly, if that's what's been mandated then that's what we'll apply. Thanks for the information. Do you happen to have a source for that? Also - is there a prakha enforcing that?
Rant time. Why on earth would an employee need three days off for a half-day event? Yes, I know it's a great excuse to nick of to the village, but polling was created in Phnom Penh for workers here. To grant three days to ALL employees is simply irresponsible.
I have it on very good, first-hand authority that some of the biggest garment contracts are being moved to another country right NOW. (This will obviously take a few years to fully implement.) For all the ills and evils of the garment factories, what jobs will the government provide once these jobs are gone? The excessive public holidays and ad-hoc holidays was quoted as one of the primary reasons, as well as wages that are rising too rapidly.
That was to be expected, same as with all other countries when wages and cost go up ,,,, move and start a new factory , new machines and new contracts in a new country. Looks like South Africa is next in line.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

No, in South Asia - can't say more at this point as the source would be highly identifiable, and they're a friend. I'd go as far as to predict a job drought in Cambodia within 5-10 years based on this single company changing it's country of origin.Duncan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 7:37 pmThat was to be expected, same as with all other countries when wages and cost go up ,,,, move and start a new factory , new machines and new contracts in a new country. A slow process is in progress...phuketrichard wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 12:26 pmAt the time, the military take over was the best thing for the country and i still feel that it WAS, but as time goes on
A military takeover is EVER the best thing for a country?
How many of those has Thailand had?
Do you even know?

The Huawei P20 Pro has triple Leica lenses and takes excellent shots at night. It'll set you back about $1000 though.

Rather presumptuous I think.stroppy wrote:but thanks for your uninformed judgement.
Despite your web searches, it seems almost every business in Cambodia closed shop during the election, I wonder how they knew?

How they knew what?
Many western businesses in the UK, EU and US/NATO pimps close during the final stages of an election.
Please share your exclusive knowledge.
And if you could tell us how morally superior you consider warmongering, that would be great, too.

I presume your comment is a criticism. About what?
I wonder how they knew?
Knew what?
Don't get excited, just answer the question, please.
No need to proceed with expletives, just explain.
