Post by BangkokStick »

hello,

Can you tell me if like Thai islands Koh Rong island is quiet in September and April ?
If not in Sept or April, when is it the most quiet period of the year ?

And it should be raining a lot ?

Can you also tell me the name of any other interesting island in Cambodia ?

Thank you to all.

rain probable in september and hot in april. low numbers in both months. i would maybe look at koh chang thailand as well and thoroughly research koh rong here on ceo, using the search feature. there are lots of posts about it. things change fast in cambodia so have a fallback plan in case dr no builds a casino under the volcano.

Thank you, I searched here but I didn't find many posts about Koh rong, do people avoid it like a plague ? so where to go in Cambodia ?
I already know all Thai islands where I have been living on different islands more than 10 years, and I love the rain, this is why I want to go to KR in September, and I am done with Thailand.

If you love the rain, Koh Chang is the place to go.

Thank you but as I said no more Thailand for me. And except for the rain, Koh chang beaches are some of the worst met anywhere in the world.

I have been considering running away to Koh Chang and it sounds good to me. Surely the beaches are good, the same rubbish must wash up on Koh Rong. Any beaches that far up the Gulf cop the rubbish. I have found that Thai islands are always better than Khmer islands.

Thai islands seem better than Cambodia islands, but not Kohchang beaches. If you want nice beaches go to the south of Thailand, I lived there 10 years.

What kind of stay are you looking for on Koh Rong? There 's butt-fuck nowhere, five star-ish, fishing village, western-ish village or some in-between things. You want quiet nothing or quiet some facilities?

It seems that Koh touch village is the only place to get 24 hours electricity and aircon ?

I know that it's not the best place where to stay, but I really need comfort and have already been living on some of the nicest beach of the world so many years that it's ok to stay in a small building if necessary. I just want to be on Koh rong because it's nicer than Sihanoukville to walk and exercise.

If you want the nicest beach i recommend Koh Rong Samloen. Less crowded than Koh Rong, beautiful beaches, 24hours electricity in the newer resorts, even bungalows with AC. I prefere the lazy beach bungalows, but there the comfort is the beach, the sand, the hammock and the moskito net :) most of the time we were the only people at the beach... on saracaen bay you have the newer resorts, two of them with a pool. you can not compare it with Thailand and the beachfront villas there, but i prefere Koh Rong Samloen because of the beaches.

Don't forget in April is Khmer New Year and the better bungalow resorts are allready sold out 13-15 april 2019.
