Police arrested American man for alleged child trafficking - Philipines

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Man nabbed for child trafficking in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY – Police arrested a man for alleged child trafficking.
Mark Christian Catley, 45, who reportedly also used the aliases Dino Ferrari and William Modena, was arrested around 10 p.m. Friday during an entrapment operation inside a hotel in Sto. Tomas town Batangas province, where the suspect allegedly checked-in with his two victims.

Chief Inspector John Paras, chief of the police Anti-Cyber Crime Office in Calabarzon, said the case stemmed from the complaint of a mother, whose two children, both female, aged 14 and 15, fell victims to Catley.

“According to the victims, (Catley) would take nude photos of them and
sometimes have sex with them, and post the pictures online,” Paras said in a phone interview Saturday.

Paras said the suspect was allegedly behind a pornographic site called “bebots only” that catered to pedophiles abroad.

Police on Friday evening tracked down the suspect who took his victims for dinner in a fast food chain before checking in at the hotel.

“When we came in, he and the girls were all naked,” Paras said.

He said the suspect, who lived in Calamba City in Laguna, targeted mostly “poor girls” in the city and adjacent municipalities. Catley allegedly gave his victims P150 cash as payment and asked them to “recruit” more young girls.

“For instance, one of his victims was a daughter of a laundrywoman whose father was in jail,” Paras added.

The police charged Catley with multiple counts of rape, cyber crime, and human trafficking.

Interesting video and very interesting locations for the alleged offences. Calamba, where the perp was living, is about 40 km. south of Manila and is relatively middle class, by Philippine standards. There is an upmarket karaoke bar scene, strictly for wealthy Manila males, and the accommodation is also high standard, featuring deluxe rooms with private mineral water spas. Most of the hotels are short time only, as the clientele are Manila businessmen and their temporary "guests". Very few foreign sexpats have ever heard of the place or been there. I was one of the few foreigners to visit, as I was writing travel guides about the country.
On the other hand, San Pedro, where the offences allegedly took place, is an absolute shithole, by any standards. It is about 30 km. further on, on a major road junction. I didn't ever stay there, but every time I passed through, it stank of sleaze, poverty and corruption.
While living in Angeles, I only ever heard one person mention Calamba. He was a crazed Afro-American sexpat, who claimed to have bought a house there, despite being unable to pay his AC bar bills. He would regale anyone prepared to listen with boasts about the "hot young chicks"that were available there. This recent news suggests that the area may have been a long time haunt of pedos.

That's good information. These places only thrive because they stay under the radar. Put some light on the subject and maybe authorities will move in and do something.
