Yeah, this. It's not your job and you'll just get in the way. They'll usually have someone already in mind who does everyone's and the MC will be the local one. If you're lucky you might get enough cash to cover the whole thing, if you're feeling flush stick a bottle of Johnny Walker on each table at the dinner, be a proper Bong thom. Oh, and if you've got a bit of a beer belly now's the time to start a bit of gym work as those 13 changes of clothes are going to be designed for smaller framed gentlemen. They're a bit tight at the best of times.

My girlfriend's parents are dead. What about having a simple engagement dinner where she was a dress and I wear a suit and there are no changes of clothes ? Is that possible?
Re: Wedding Party without marriage
Your future wife won't go for that idea mate...these parties are all about face, and if you're lucky, make some money.

told my gf the exact same thing. Luckily i am over 50 so she understands, ( well accepts it, not exactly happy about it) without having the wedding and party

They will give money, even if you request them not to. About face too.......PhnomRon wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 10:35 pmI'm happy to pay for the party, and tell people not to give any money, I just don't want to wear the stupid clothes.
Re: Wedding Party without marriage
thank you for your advices. I will leave most of the planning to my finance/Family. The swiss "style" would not work here, so i agree to your comment. But there are a few things i want to be in control
yes, i have to start excercise now, so my Swiss chocolate belly will fit into the Dresses. Anyway, my gf agreed to 2 different Outfits (for me)
And since they life in the province, the clocks tick differently. they ask the neighbours and friends, instead of someone who knows how to do it. This is good for the people in the small village, because they give each other work, but sometimes at the end the result is not ok (for me, for the Khmer it is okay). I like to have a toilet and shower, at the end we got a working toilet, but the guy did not know how to construct a shower. I suggested we hire a guy who can do both, but they hired the local guy… Anyway, this is no big deal, but i wonder if i will ever get used to this.

If you are getting marrie din Switzerland check your paperwork. In most countries the wife will need a certificate of no impediment from the commune and certified by the Ministry of foreign affairs, BUT they will not do it because they do not support barang over 50 marrying even abroad.Genti wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 5:30 pm thank you for your advices. If the Swiss will let you get away with an affidavit that may work, but when I looked into it last year the only place she can get married without this pesky paper is Aero island, denmark
Re: Wedding Party without marriage
As i wrote, we will marry in Switzerland. Are you really shure about this: "but when I looked into it last year the only place she can get married without this pesky paper is Aero island, denmark"
the consulat in PP and the embassy in BKK are helpfull and we got checklists about the papers we need. She need the certificate of civil status, wich she got allready from the boss of the village. And the other papers from the checklist we got to, we just need to do the translation of the papers. And for the visa we need the criminal/police record from Ministere de la Justice, waiting for this allready a couple of weeks.
Right now i can't see why it should not work in Switzerland. Except that the swiss embassy or the swiss immigration authorities still could say no.

Sometimes we have to do things for our partner because we love them.
Just wear the clothes, it will make her so happy.

Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.
